We often see them on the streets looking dirty and afraid. We see them in shelters, spirits broken and sad. We read about them in newspapers, or see them on T.V., suffering unimaginable cruelties. Maybe we reflect for a moment on what we saw, think about how sad it was, and then the picture disappears from your mind . . .
Another animal has just lost its life.
You were honest, loyal, and gave your heart. Your love was unconditional. In return you expected nothing but an occasional touch, food when you were hungry, and shelter to keep you warm and dry . . .
Another animal has just lost its life.
Look at me! Look at me! My spirit is broken. I don't bother to look up when you pass. I have been beaten, I have been starved. I was once young and only wanted to play, but now I sit in a cage waiting for execution day.
Another animal has just lost its life.
Please help me. I have done nothing wrong. I just want a life were I can feel a soft touch caress my head, a warm dry spot to lay, and something to eat when I am hungry. I am still alive, and despite the hardships I have suffered, when you release me from this place, I will give you unconditional love and your kindness will never disappear from my mind.
Don't let another animal loose its life.
